There were lots of favorites items I reached for this past month and I wanted to share them with you. I tried a lot of skincare and makeup as old staples ran out so that allowed me to try new products and rediscover old favorites.
I read (listened on Audible) two books that have been very self-validating and encouraging as I continue to promote social justice. I highly recommend listening to books because it has allowed me to engage in more content than I normally would.
Let’s get into those favorites.
Skincare/Beauty
Fenty Skin- Cleanser and Fat Water Serum and Toner
Calluna Labs Restorative Face Oil. I recently reviewed three of their CBD products.
The Beautycounter Countertime Eye Cream is a thick eye cream that lasts all day and keeps my eyes hydrated. A little bit goes a long way for under-eye moisture. I have noticed that my creases from years of squinting have diminished as well. Well worth their price for a highly effective non-toxic product so close to my eyes.
Honest Beauty has been a brand I have reached for a lot this month and three of their products made it in as a favorite. The mascara, tinted moisturizer, and lip balm were easy to use and made for a complete summer look.
Ilia is another brand that I reached for this month. When my honest beauty mascara ran out I reached back for my Ilia limitless mascara and tried out their gel liner. The matte powder with SPF 20 has been a great way to top off sun protection on the go and it allows for a barrier between my mask and my face as well.
Good Chemistry Body Spray has been my body spray of the summer. The good for you ingredients and variety of scents make it so effortless to smell fresh. I lean towards mists in the summer and I have liked spraying this throughout the day.
Accessories/Other
In terms of accessories, these Black Clay Earrings from Blessing Baubles Co and my Gold Africa Pendant necklace from Beauty Melanin have been nice additions to my rotation of jewelry.
To add a pop of color to my bags my pink Coach Cassie has been a nice switch up from my basic small black tote.
As a shameless plug, I have to include my own podcast Tell Me, If You Can where I interview different women who share and unpacks lessons from stories that shaped their journeys.
Lastly, for a book favorite I recommend, Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall talks about intersectionality in a way that draws from personal observations and experiences, and research. It was a great read. I highly recommend for anyone who advocates for women-which should be everyone.
