More than Just for Calm Nerves: Calluna Labs CBD Review

I’m not a stranger to using products with CBD. For the past two years, I have tried out a few products myself. During that time the options for products have grown dramatically. Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is derived from the Cannabis plant. It has been linked to many therapeutic benefits and can be used to ease the symptoms of conditions such as anxiety or seizures.

Most products on the market are free from THC which is linked to the ‘high’ feeling people experience from the psychoactive cannabinoid in marijuana.

About the Brand

As with many other therapeutic treatments, not all are created equally. One brand of CBD products that I have found to be exceptional is Calluna Labs. They are a female-owned all-natural company with a commitment to providing ethically sourced, non-toxic, and highly effective products. It’s important to me to have products that I put in and on my body to be as effective and non-toxic as possible. 

Over the past several weeks I have had the opportunity to use three products from the brand.

CBD Muscle Rub

This product has been great to rub on my sore shoulders and neck during the day. Being hunched over on my laptop all day working from home takes a toll on your posture. I have also learned that I hold a lot of stress and tension in my upper back.

I can’t wait to have this in my gym bag when I get back to my intense powerlifting programming. I love that it is natural and the 250mg of CBD in a thick balm formulation is easy to control as you rub it on your body. Now that I’m back to teaching outdoor boot camps this coupled with my gua sha scraping tool has been a post-workout dream team.

Full Spectrum CBD Oil

I have definitely had to hide this from my husband in the last few weeks. He loves that this oil is more potent than the CBD gummies he is used to for the same price. Lately, his level of stress and issues with sleep have been heightened and this has been a game-changer for him. One thing to note is that because it is all-natural, there is an earthy aftertaste. He has also taken to adding half a droplet to his tea or coffee. For myself, I love being able to control how much I take. I typically use it just before going to bed, especially the night before I have a packed day. 

Restorative Face Oil

This product is my favorite one! I am a huge fan of natural skincare and to have a brand that has muscle rubs and skincare is not common. I have tried CBD infused skincare in the past but many products on the market have very little amounts of active CBD. This facial oil has 200 mg of CBD along with other skin-loving oils like Evening Primrose, Jojoba & Rosehip Oil. After two days I noticed that the stubborn dry patches around my nose and on my eyelids were gone. I was stunned.

I use facial oils as part of my morning and evening skincare routines. A little bit goes a long way. I love how it fits perfectly with my other skincare products. Again, because it doesn’t have any artificial fragrances or fillers you do have the natural hemp smell from the oil. The smell dissipates quickly. I find that angry normal spots have calmed down dramatically. For an extra boost I pair it with my Overnight Resurfacing Peel at night and after a luxurious charcoal mask during the day. Some nights for an extra special treat I use all three for a relaxing night routine. I massage the muscle rub around my neck and shoulders and any sore muscles from my at-home routines or outdoor workout. Then I move onto the full spectrum oil before I start my evening skincare. By the time it’s time to get into bed I am calm and relaxed. It’s quite a treat.

Takeaways

There are very few cons I can find with this brand. Because of the quality it does come at a higher price point than some brands that you may find at a local retailer. But with that higher price point you are getting a cleaner and more concentrated amount of CBD. 

CBD has come a long way from just about calming nerves. It has been shown to have a place in body care, skincare, and everywhere in between. Calluna Labs is one brand that is premium on the market.
