Not all Facial Oils are created Equal

The most important step in my skincare routine is applying facial oil. 

Recently I reviewed Calluna Labs CBD Restorative Gold Elixir and it has quickly become one of my favorite facial oils to use especially when my skin needs that extra boost of restoration.

Calluna Labs just launched two new facial oils in their collection. One provides an ultra clarifying benefit to your skin and the other has ultra calming properties. Both the Ultra-Clarifying and Ultra Calming CBD Face Oils can be mixed with the original Restorative Gold Elixir or used on their own.

CBD or cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive ingredient that can be found in products ranging from hair shampoos to soft drinks. Not all CBD products are made equal and with the same standard for quality. Just like in skincare not all facial oils are created equal, Not all CBD facial oils are either.  I love the Calluna Labs CBD facial oil line because of the rigorous testing that is done for all of the ingredients. They do not add fillers or extra fragrance.  If you open up a bottle of one of their facial oils you get that earthy natural scent telling you that only good things are in the bottle. Some popular facial oils are filled with artificial ingredients to make you feel like you have that glow but hours later your skin is just as dry and untreated as it was before. The items listed in the label is only the first step in a quality product, the way an ingredient is sourced and how potent it is in the formula is key.

There are two ways that I like to add facial oil in my skincare routine. I either put it on after I have added my face serum and under eye cream or I put on a light moisturizer and allow the facial oil to steal in all of that moisture. One benefit of doing this latter step is the illumination my skin has of the instant glow especially on those no makeup days. Because I have multiple facial oils I have found that it is important that I am able to mix the different oils that I have in order to achieve the effect that I need for my skin that day or week.

I have found with the combinations I am able to make with these oils and my own moisturizers my subtle feeling skin lasts all day. That means more minimal makeup days. For lighter skin care days I love the clarifying oil at the night time because I feel like it allows for my skin to really draw out impurities so that when I wash my face in the morning my pores feel even better. The calming facial oil is perfect for after my bootcamp workout days when my skin has become a little bit puffy from redness and dehydration. I add in a couple of drops of this oil into the Elixir oil for an extra boost of restoration.
